Dear Members of NACD-NJ,
As we begin 2017, I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and send you a brief note to update you on our chapter activities.
We started this year with over 50 attendees participating in an outstanding program at the Rutgers Business School dissecting the presidential election and the potential impact of the new administration policies on our businesses and boards. The content was provocative sometimes controversial and very informative.
We have some great programs scheduled for the next several months including ones on Cybersecurity, M&A Strategy, Activist Investors and Board litigation.
In April, we will be working with the Philadelphia NACD Chapter to feature a discussion with Denise Morrison, the CEO of Campbell Soup
The challenges facing each of us as directors continue and it’s important that we all keep educated on the issues and latest practices that other boards are using to fulfill our director responsibilities. You can depend on NACD and your local New Jersey Chapter to provide the resources and the personal interaction opportunities to help each of us address these pressures and become better directors.
Remember to visit our NACD NJ chapter website for up to date information on all chapter activities. I also encourage you to visit the NACD website to view all of the excellent resources that NACD provides for its members.
Also, remember that you receive credit for attending local chapter events. You can track your director education history on NACD’s Director Education Transcript. Learn more about this new valuable tool and start building your transcript today.I hope to see you at the NACD 2017 Global Board Leaders Summit, October 1-4. If you’re planning to attend, let me know and we can connect there. I’ll be happy to introduce you to other directors and members of our chapter.
Please join us at one of our upcoming chapter events to learn and share your valuable insights and experience. Spread the word about our chapter to your fellow board members and encourage them to attend a meeting this year to experience NACD in action. A greater attendance at our chapter events will enhance our discussions and provide expanded networking opportunities.
We are always open to new ideas for programs, speakers or directors who want to become more actively involved in Chapter Leadership. Please don’t hesitate to call or contact me anytime.
